Operations Manager - Home Delivery & B2B Logistics

The Senior Operations Manager – Final Mile Delivery & B2B Logistics is responsible for leading and optimizing a multi-faceted logistics operation, including final mile home delivery (big & bulky), B2B distribution, and specialized logistics services (e.g., pharmaceutical, freight forwarding, and project-based work).

This role owns end-to-end operational performance, from customer experience through execution, while managing both internal teams and third-party delivery partners. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, operationally hands-on, and experienced in managing complex logistics networks and customer relationships in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities 

Network & Operational Performance Management

  • Own performance of a distributed, non-asset-based delivery network and internal operations
  • Monitor and drive KPIs including on-time delivery, damage rates, customer satisfaction, and cost efficiency
  • Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions across teams and partners
  • Ensure efficient routing, scheduling, and capacity planning

Third-Party Carrier & Vendor Management

  • Build and manage relationships with third-party delivery providers and logistics partners
  • Lead regular business reviews to ensure SLA compliance and continuous improvement
  • Partner with leadership on carrier selection, onboarding, and contract management
  • Ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and company standards

Customer & Account Management

  • Serve as primary operational contact for key clients across home delivery, B2B, and specialized logistics accounts
  • Manage complex customer relationships, including healthcare, retail, and enterprise clients
  • Oversee project pricing, quoting, and execution for large-scale logistics initiatives
  • Handle escalations and drive root-cause resolution to improve customer satisfaction (NPS/CSAT)

Multi-Channel Operations Oversight

  • Oversee daily operations across:
  • Final mile home delivery (furniture, appliances, fitness equipment)
  • Pharmaceutical distribution and regulated logistics (DSCSA compliance, licensing)
  • Freight forwarding and international logistics coordination
  • Data center relocations and specialized projects
  • Coordinate across internal teams (drivers, warehouse, customer service, freight teams)
  • Ensure seamless handoffs between linehaul, warehousing, and delivery

Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Leverage data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost drivers
  • Develop dashboards, reporting, and performance scorecards
  • Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Create and standardize operational processes and documentation

Cost & Financial Management

  • Manage delivery cost structures, pricing, and profitability
  • Analyze cost drivers and identify savings opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to budgets while maintaining service quality
  • Support business development initiatives and strategic growth opportunities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead hiring, training, and development of operations staff
  • Drive workforce planning and staffing strategies across business lines
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, sales, and support teams

Problem Solving & Execution

  • Manage day-to-day operational challenges including delays, damages, and service failures
  • Make real-time decisions balancing customer expectations with operational realities
  • Navigate complex, high-value, and time-sensitive logistics projects 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or operations management
  • Experience managing third-party carriers and/or non-asset-based logistics networks
  • Proven ability to manage complex B2B customer relationships
  • Strong analytical skills (Excel, BI tools, or similar)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in final mile or big & bulky delivery
  • Background in pharmaceutical or regulated logistics environments
  • Familiarity with freight forwarding and international logistics
  • Experience with routing/dispatch and logistics software (e.g., DispatchTrack, CSA WorldTrack)
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification or equivalent
