Vice President, Final Mile Operations
Position Overview
The Vice President Final Mile Operations will be responsible for the strategic vision, tactics, and financial outcomes of the Final Mile Delivery business. The role requires a highly engaged and dedicated leader with a track record of business ownership success, high level of financial acumen, ability to seek and utilize the voice of the employee and customer, and fortitude to lead challenging work through to fruition.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development Focused on Financially Sound Growth
- Craft and lead the direction and vision for the Final Mile Delivery segment
- Drive awareness and alignment with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders by leveraging a data-first approach combined with detailed storytelling
- Accountable to profit and loss, budgeting, and the methodology to track progress monthly
- Maintain a position of strength and agility to pivot based on changing environment and other impacts to business direction and health that establishes business continuity
- Utilize forecasting, benchmarking, and competitor analysis to drive portfolio enticement and speed to market that sets the organization up as the provider of choice
- Account management with an emphasis on growing top-tier accounts
Execution Support Capability Leadership
- Play an active role in building launches, customer acquisition, customer retention, and all execution-focused objectives
- Analyze performance outcomes, constantly monitor current state, and seek input to drive process improvement and cost-reduction projects and initiatives
- Lead key capabilities (i.e., licensing, fleet, routing, invoicing) that create temporary or permanent solutions
- Partner with technology, business intelligence, and other cross-functional teams to create visibility and improve user-related performance
- Develop small-scale tests by implementing scalable approaches that facilitate expansion, speed, and cost control
Lead Teams and Develop People Within the Organization
- Inspire others by instilling the purpose and why behind the work that lends to commitment
- Network and build strong working relationships that propel growth opportunities and partnership
- Lead development-focused efforts to raise the overall water level of talent within the organization
- Remove roadblocks and use the voice of the employee to ensure an inclusive and engaging environment
- Create a talent bench for future leaders
Client Operations Management
- Ensure flawless execution of services for major clients including Costco, Whirlpool, RC Willey, LX Pantos/Lennar, and Electrolux
- Manage client relationships at the operational level, serving as escalation point for service issues
- Lead implementation of new client programs and contract launches, including warehousing, final mile delivery, and white-glove services
- Develop and maintain client-specific operating procedures and quality standards
- Oversee performance against contractual commitments and SLAs
Operational Excellence
- Oversee warehouse management operations including inventory control, space utilization, and fulfillment across multiple locations
- Manage final mile delivery operations ensuring on-time performance and damage-free delivery
- Direct installation and white-glove service teams to meet quality and safety standards
- Implement and optimize operational systems, processes, and technology solutions
- Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and licensing requirements across jurisdictions
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field required
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
Experience
- 7+ years of progressive experience in logistics or transportation operations, with at least 3-5 years specifically focused on final mile delivery
- Proven experience in a leadership role, managing teams and driving operational performance
- Hands-on experience with routing software, dispatch systems, and fleet management
- Experience working in a smaller company or a high-growth environment where adaptability and a broad skillset are valued
- Demonstrated ability to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Experience launching and scaling new operations or client programs
- P&L responsibility and budget management experience
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data driven decisions
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with logistics software including WMS and TMS
- Strong negotiation skills for potential vendor relationships
- Crisis management and problem-resolution expertise under pressure
- Expert knowledge of warehouse operations, transportation management, and last-mile delivery

- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as operational needs require
