International Logistics Operations Specialist - in person

ACS Logistics is a fast-growing company beginning to disrupt the business-to-business logistics and transportation market. We are currently looking for a motivated and energetic person with international freight forwarding experience, project management experience, and logistics/transportation management knowledge to join our team to help orchestrate freight solutions for our customers.

Primary Role:

As an International Logistics Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for the coordination of processes and practices across a wide mix of stakeholders and a customer base made up of internal and external organizations seeking a trusted transportation partner. This position will rely on drive and motivation to bridge the knowledge gap between customers, suppliers and carriers involved in international movement. This position includes heavy phone and email contact between vendors and external customers. As part of the ACS Logistics team, you will be assisting in helping us continue to provide freight solutions for our customers as well as organize transportation activities, including storage of goods, managing information accrued from point of origin to delivery, orchestrating transportation movements, and arranging for services, as necessary. You will multi-task while adhering to extremely time sensitive deadlines, which requires high attention to detail and the ability to focus intensely for extended periods.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain phone and email communication between external customers and contracted vendors
  • Identify complex problems by reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions 
  • Apply logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems 
  • Ensure that cost and performance metrics are maintained 
  • Meet customer deadlines and provide accurate reporting through data extracts 
  • This position is responsible for the execution of strategy and processes resulting in the fluid, efficient, and cost-effective international movement of goods.
  • This position will be required to coordinate with customers, and service providers, to ensure the safe, timely, and properly managed transport of goods
  • Responsible for quoting, planning, scheduling, evaluating, executing transportation services for domestic and / or international shipments
  • Responsible for quoting, planning, scheduling, evaluating, executing transportation services for domestic and / or international shipments
  • Facilitate the coordination of various service providers (e.g. forwarders, agents, brokers, carriers, etc.)
  • Negotiate rates, audit carrier invoices and assist in the billing process to ensure accuracy in data & pricing for client and vendor billings.
  • Develop strong interaction, in and amongst customers, service providers, and the internal team to ensure fluid, efficient movement of international goods
  • Comply with all applicable transportation regulations, international trade regulations, and company policies
  • Other assigned daily duties as required by workflow

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a customer service role resolving issues and responding to customer requests
  • Minimum 3 years prior experience in an International Logistics forwarder role
  • Previous freight forwarding experience 
  • Previous project management experience  
  • Proficient in Microsoft products 
  • Excellent critical thinking skills 
  • Complex problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while delivering solutions that exceed customer expectations
  • Ability to develop cross-functional partner relationships and interact effectively with others in a team environment

Preferred Skills:

  • A knowledge of the logistics or freight forwarding industry
  • Understanding of TSA requirements for airfreight
