Role Summary

The Manager, Final Mile Operations plays a crucial role in leading final mile delivery operations across both local market and remote settings. This position bridges hands-on field execution with strategic business management, requiring a leader who can direct crews and warehouse operations on the ground while also overseeing performance, optimizing processes, and managing key partnerships across multiple markets. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads with flexibility and a problem-solving mindset, and can seamlessly transition between field-level execution and data-driven decision-making.








Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate warehouse employees, independent contractors, and drivers (both on-site and across remote markets) fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and direct support to local partners, ensuring optimal team performance in responsible markets.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop delivery teams and independent contractors as operational needs evolve.
  • Solve real-time escalations for customers, employees, and partners with confidence and urgency.
  • Communicate, maintain, and train teams on all functions of delivery and complex installations.

Delivery & Warehouse Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day delivery operations, directing crews and drivers to ensure loads are completed accurately, safely, and on time.
  • Manage warehouse workflow including staffing, scheduling, loading, staging, and product handling to maximize productivity.
  • Virtually inspect daily performance across all assigned markets and conduct on-site visits to ensure operational standards are met.
  • Coordinate with independent contractors, drivers, clients, and transport partners to ensure seamless product delivery.
  • Responsible for daily operational tasks including routing, invoicing, auditing, and reporting.
  • Communicate efficiently across departments to support smooth end-to-end operations.

Inventory & Warehouse Integrity

  • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and timely system updates, while promptly resolving discrepancies related to lost, missing, or damaged products.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of all products to minimize damage, shrink, and delivery exceptions.
  • Oversee daily documentation, manifests, and paperwork to support accurate recordkeeping, invoicing, and billing.

Performance Management & KPIs

  • Monitor and report on key operational KPIs including on-time delivery rate, damage rate, labor efficiency, and customer satisfaction using data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop performance-driven content for weekly meetings with internal teams and external partners.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with direct reports and field teams, translating data into coaching opportunities and corrective action plans.
  • Manage location operating expenses including labor, overhead, and vendor costs to deliver against budgeted margins.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety policies, DOT regulations, and company procedures across warehouse and delivery operations.
  • Facilitate ongoing safety training and ensure all employees and contractors operate within established guidelines.
  • Conduct incident reviews and maintain accurate safety and compliance documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, operations management, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising and managing people across both on-site and remote settings.
  • Experience collaborating with remote teams across multiple locations is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing diverse teams and building a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to manage relationships with both internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to analyze complex data and translate it into actionable operational insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting customer requirements and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in logistics management and warehouse management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and a strong technical aptitude to adapt to new tools.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as shipping documents, bills of lading, reports, and safety/operating instructions.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time depending on market assignment.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
  • Some weekend and evening hours may be required.

Environmental/Working Conditions

This role operates in both remote/office and warehouse environments depending on market assignment. 

  • Work involves frequent contact with customers, vendors, employees, and the public. 
  • On-site market visits will require work in warehouses and delivery environments that may not be climate controlled.
